Eurocodes Structural Fire Engineering Design

This course will introduce the Irish version of the Eurocodes for designing structures from March 2010 onwards. For the first time there will be Irish codes for designing structural elements and buildings. The codes will introduce design methods for concrete, steel, composite structures, masonry, timber and aluminium structures.

Structural fire engineering design affects all designers including architectural choices, civil and structural engineering solutions and the use of different materials for designing for heat transfer. The eurocodes introduce a limit state design code, and interestingly for the Irish market a code for aluminium structures, external elements and structural timber elements. After March oversight standards will require proof of design to the Irish eurocodes and designers will want to be informed as well as possible of the changes, the methodologies, the structure of the codes and the values for all of the design factors within the codes.
