This informative session will explore the key elements of geotechnical design as outlined in the Second Generation Eurocode 7 (EN 1997), covering:
- The structure, aim, background, and safety concept of EN 1997 (Eurocode 7: Geotechnical Design).
- General rules and ground properties as outlined in EN 1997-1 and EN 1997-2.
- Design considerations for specific geotechnical structures such as slopes, spread foundations, piles, and retaining structures in EN 1997-3.
The workshop agenda includes:
- Introduction: aim and background, Eurocodes system, parts of Eurocode 7, geotechnical structures (overview)
- Safety concept of Eurocode, applicable to EN 1997: EN 1990, loads, groundwater
- EN 1997-1: General rules, quality aspects, geotechnical categories
- EN 1997-2: Ground properties
- EN 1997-3: Geotechnical structures
- Conclusions and Q&A session with the experts.
Esteemed speakers will be sharing their expertise during the workshop:
- Adriaan van Seters, Chairman CEN/TC 250/SC 7 Eurocode 7 'Geotechnical Design'; Fugro, Netherlands
