Eurocodes

New Eurocode on glass in construction

A new Eurocode on structural glass will be developed following a step-by-step procedure designed to ensure effective consultation and technical governance.

A scientific and technical report will be developed and converted first into a Technical Specification and then into an EN Eurocode on structural glass. The following topics will be addressed:

  • properties of material and products;
  • application fields, respective failure potential and failure consequences;
  • safety and reliability approaches;
  • principles of design;
  • design and calculation rules for primary members, joints, connections and supports.

As for the existing Eurocodes, sustainability concepts will be incorporated. A clear language and structure will be used and background documents with justification of recommendations will be produced. Where relevant, links with national, European and international standards will be assessed.
