The aim of this course is to provide participants with an understanding of the physical behaviour and limit state design of structural steelwork in accordance with EC3.

The objectives of the course are to: Introduce the basic principles of limit state design and how they are applied in EC3; Identify the common failure modes of steelwork elements and understand how these are allowed for in design to EC3; Understand and be able to apply the procedures described in EC3 to the design of beams, columns, beam-columns, trusses and connections as used in simple frameworks.
