Abstract
This report explains the principal differences between EN 1990 and UK practice (i.e. the material independent clauses from Chapter 2 of BS 8110 and Chapter 2 of BS 5950 etc). The principal identified differences that will be explained are: - The contents and scope of EN 1990 - The requirements of EN 1990 - The design situations to consider for both the ultimate and serviceability limit states - The representative values of the actions to use for the different design situations - The expressions for combining the effects of actions - The factors of safety to use for the appropriate design situations - Choices made in the UK National Annex to EN 1990
