Workshop on “Eurocodes and Structural Safety of Construction Works” in Albania

On 19 December 2022, the workshop on “Eurocodes and Structural Safety of Construction Works” – organised by the Albanian Academy of Science, Polytechnic University of Tirana Faculty of Civil Engineering and Metropolitan University of Tirana – was held at the premises of the Albanian Academy of Science. The audience of the event included experts from Albania, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, as well as the Albanian institutions related to disaster risk reduction, civil engineering and construction universities and private companies. The workshop was open to architecture and engineering professionals and covered the following issues:

• Seismic zonation map of Albania,
• Eurocodes for the design and assessment of existing structures,
• The new generation of Eurocodes and preparation for their adoption,
• The current building stock and necessary measurements to increase its structural safety,
• National guidelines and trainings for the assessment and retrofitting of existing construction work,
• Critical infrastructure and cultural heritage structural capacity and safety.
