This half-day lecture is co-organized by the joint committee of Institution of Engineers (IES) and Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), and by the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; it is supported by the Building and Construction Authority.
The lecture will present key changes introduced in the second generation of Eurocode 4 'Design of composite steel and concrete structures' (EN 1994-1-1, EN 1994-1-2 and EN 1994-2), published in March 2026, together with associated technical specifications. The presentations will also highlight recent developments in steel floor decking, including findings from loaded fire tests conducted using modern decking systems.
The speaker is prof. Stephen Hicks (University of Warwick, UK), chairman of CEN Technical Committee 250, Sub-committee 4, responsible for the development and maintenance of Eurocode 4.
