Second Generation of Eurocode 7 - Dynamic Ground properties and seismic design (Eurocode 8)

A free webinar to explore the interrelation of Eurocode 7 and Eurocode 8 regarding the dynamic ground properties and seismic design

ISSMGE (International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotecnical Engineering) presents the 11th ERTC10 Webinar on the Second Generation of Eurocode 7 - Dynamic Ground properties and seismic design (Eurocode 8), to be held on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, 15:00-17:00 (CET). The webinar is organised by ISSMGE ERTC10 (ISSMGE European Tehnical Committee 10 - Evaluation of Eurocode 7) and CEN/TC 250/SC 7 "Geotechnical design", in partnership with the Dutch Standards Body NEN.

The registration is now open at the link provided below, and participation is free of cost.

The webinar will cover the subject of dynamic ground properties and seismic design, showing the interrelation of Eurocode 7 and Eurocode 8 regarding those aspects. Experts representing CEN/TC 250 subcommittees SC 7 and SC 8, who worked on the development of the second generation of those standards, will explain:

  • Main changes for seismic design of geotechnical structures in the next generation Eurocodes.
  • What we can find on relevant ground properties in the new EN 1997-2.
  • Practical implications using design examples for typical geotechnical structures.

The agenda includes:

  1. Introduction to dynamics in EN 1997-1 - Adriaan van Seters, Fugro, The Netherlands
  2. Overview of Eurocode 8 part 5 - Main changes and basis of earthquake design for geotechnical structures - Prof. Alain Pecker, École des Ponts ParisTech, France
  3. Ground properties for dynamic and seismic design - Prof. Sebastiano Foti, Politecnico di Torino, Italy
  4. Shallow and pile foundations with examples of application - Dr António Araújo Correia, LNEC, Portugal
  5. Retaining structures with an example application - Prof. Luigi Callisto, Sapienza Università di Roma, Italy
  6. Q&A session
