Eurocode 8 is the new standard for seismic design. It covers many forms of seismic design, provides the most comprehensive and up to date set of design rules currently available in the world and is now the single seismic design code in Europe. It represents a significant step forward harmonising design and analysis of earthquake resistant structures throughout Europe. This one day course delivers key advice and guidance on seismic design and analysis of structures to Eurocode 8. Providing a comprehensive introduction to earthquakes and seismic design and analysis it will improve your design capability as well as your understanding of the application of Eurocode 8 to your projects. Self managed pre-course learning sets the scene for this course, covering three key background subjects that will enhance your learning: An introduction to the Eurocode suite Basic dynamics Earthquake characteristics
Presenter: The tutor is a Chartered Engineer Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers with extensive experience in seismic design of structures and concrete framed buildings in particular. He lectures structural design and conducts / supervises research at a leading UK University and is the author of the BSI Guide to Eurocode 8 for training students and lecturers in the UK and Worldwide.
