Eurocode 5: EN1995 Part 1-1: DESIGN OF TIMBER STRUCTURES – GENERAL – COMMON RULES AND RULES FOR BUILDINGS
This introductory one-day course provides an opportunity to be introduced to Eurocode 5 focusing on the key elements of the new design code. The course is workshop-style and is interactive with worked tutorial examples based on practical design problems. Participation is encouraged throughout and delegate numbers are limited to approx. 16 to facilitate this approach. After a brief summary of the differences between EN1995-1-1 and BS5268, the course will cover the following themes:
◦The interface between EN1995-1-1 and other Eurocodes, EN product standards and UK National documents [NA & PD6693]
◦Material properties
◦Design for ultimate limit states [bending member & compression member]
◦Design for serviceability limit states [deflection & vibration]
◦Design of dowel-type fastener joints
