Hands on with timber designs to EC5

This two day workshop organised by Trada in association with IStructE CPD facilitator Professional Solutions for structural engineers and practitioners who have had previous design experience to relevant British standards, particularly to BS 5268. Design situations commonly encountered in design of timber structures will be addressed. Extracts from other relevant codes and subject materials and references will be provided with the course materials. By doing the examples themselves with the assistance of the tutor, delegates of this course will gain the invaluable knowledge and experience necessary to tackle the design of timber elements to BS EN 1995:2004 (EC5) with confidence. Further, the guidance given throughout the course will help the participants to understand BS EN 1990:2002 (Basis of Structural Design) and to correctly design timber structures to limit states. Differences between old BS 5268 permissible stress design and new EC5 limit state design will be highlighted.
