Eurocode 5: connections and advanced topics in timber design

A training event on the Second-Generation Eurocodes, provided by the Institution of Structural Engineers (UK)

This course introduces timber connections in detail and several other advanced topics in timber design to EN 1995 - Eurocode 5: Design of timber structures. Topics covered include, but not limited to:

  • Connections with dowels and dowel type fasteners, nails, screws, and bolts
  • Timber composites
  • Notched members and slots and holes in timbers
  • Splitting of timber and other brittle failures
  • Design for durability
  • Introductions to the fire and bridges parts of Eurocode 5

Pre-requirement: Participation at the course Eurocode 5: the essentials of timber design course is recommended.
