This course introduces timber connections in detail and several other advanced topics in timber design to EN 1995 - Eurocode 5: Design of timber structures. Topics covered include, but not limited to:
- Connections with dowels and dowel type fasteners, nails, screws, and bolts
- Timber composites
- Notched members and slots and holes in timbers
- Splitting of timber and other brittle failures
- Design for durability
- Introductions to the fire and bridges parts of Eurocode 5
Pre-requirement: Participation at the course Eurocode 5: the essentials of timber design course is recommended.
