The S. Gabriel and S. Rafael Towers are two similar structures each with 25 storeys and 5 below ground level separated by an open storey through which the two nuclei transmit the upper part loading, from the transition floor to the foundations.

The structural system adopted for the upper storeys consists of:
• a composite girder with steel beams grid joined by connectors and a reinforced concrete slab;
• two nuclei made of reinforced concrete;
• steel columns.

A transition structure made of pre-stressed reinforced concrete supports the steel columns and transmits the loads to the foundations through the two structural nuclei only. The foundations are also made of pre-stressed concrete.

Eurocode 4 – Design of composite steel and concrete structures - was used for the design and structural safety check of the primary and secondary beams constituting the resisting system of the composite floors.
