Span arrangement:36+115+77m
Variable box girder:5.75 ÷ 2.50m
The superstructure consists of a three span cast in-situ concrete continuous bridge with a maximum structural depth of 5.75m over the intermediate supports and a minimum depth of 2.5m at the middle of central span and north abutment. Bearings are fully articulated at the north end and the intermediate supports, and integral at the south end. The span lengths are 36m, 115 m and 77 m, and the cross section width is 16.30m.
This balanced cantilever bridge is cast in-situ without a need of temporary framing and/or scaffolding to support structural elements during construction. The only exception to this is the unbalanced part of the deck, 12m approximately, next to the north abutment, which is located over the existing N3.
Aghnaguig bog area is considered to be of high environmental value. Therefore, the conceptual design of the Aghnaguig Bridge minimized the location of intermediate supports. The two intermediate supports are placed inside the candidate Special Area of Conservation, cSAC, while the south abutme
