The way to the Single Market
Standards play a useful role in helping to create the Single Market by supporting the New Approach Directives. This legislation sets the key requirements that products need to meet so that they can freely circulate across the European Union.
- compliance of works with the seven Basic Requirements;
- assessment of the performance of the product in accordance with harmonised technical specifications;
- declaration of performance of the product related to the relevant essential characteristics;
- CE marking of the product.
Products are fit for their intended use if they comply with a Harmonised Standard (hEN), or a European Technical Assessment.
A construction product with a European Technical Assessment, can carry the CE marking and can be placed on the market within the European Economic Area.
The European system for standardisation and declaration of performance is made up of Standards and European Assessment Documents. […]
